Bantry Bay

OUR UNIQUE LOCATION

From a 40 metre deep, emerald-washed bay in West Cork, our organic mussels are enjoyed by people all over the world.

DEEP, NATURAL, BEAUTIFUL

Bantry Bay is called Cuan Baoi in Irish. It runs 35km from north to south and on into the Atlantic Ocean. It is a ria, once a river valley, now filled with salt-sea waters to the depths of 40 metres. Along its shores it is fed by rivers and supports a rich biodiverse environment of flora and fauna. White clover and bog pimpernel, sheep’s sorrel and oxeye daisies all grow wild. While Cormorants, Shags and Great Northern Divers fly overhead. Come and visit, stay and eat our local, organic mussels.

OUR PLACE CREATES OUR TASTE

The unique, natural and organic environment of Bantry Bay creates consistently plump, sweet and juicy mussels. The bay is cold and deep, up to 40 metres, but the Gulf Stream joins to moderate the Atlantic temperatures to one that is ideal for healthy, thriving mussels. We grow, tend, harvest, grade and cook the mussels to perfection, all here in Bantry Bay.

FROM OUR HOME TO YOUR HOME

We cook and pack our mussels beside the bay from which they are harvested. This means that you can discover and enjoy our locally cultivated, organic mussels around the world.
